OUT HERE GRINDING.

I 'decided' to be sick yesterday so I was off from work; was at the crib all day long doing absolutely nothing. And I loved every minute of it.

And speaking of work, we have a new machine, a plotter, that cuts any shape on sheets of vinyl. The vinyl is then stuck on whatever, on anything from a car to a billboard. Pretty cool.

But this machine likes to show off; it's the funniest thing. When it's done plotting, it cuts the completed part from the rest of the roll. But instead of making one straight cut, it does it in 3 steps: left, right & center. [Check it out below] The other plotters make do just fine with one straight cut. I'd like to think there's a perfectly logical reason why it does it that way, but I can't think of any. It's almost like its firmware was programmed by the creators of Windows Vista. And that's not a compliment.

Good Lord. I'm such a geek.

we have a large format proofer at the office and it does the very same thing. seems if it attempts to cut it straight across without jibbing about it would get itself stuck on the thicker stocks. if you attempt to cut right through material the start of the cut is usually not entirely neat and crease the material...bah! i give up.

did i go geek up in here too.

sigh.

True, it would get stuck if it did one straight cut; the other plotters here nick one edge, wait for a spell then cut right across.
This one here looks like it tries to impress with its precision, like: Look Ma, no hands! I can make 4 moves and still make 1 seamless cut!
