BE COOL

Imagine my dismay when I learned last evening that the current hundred-degree temperatures we’ve been having lately might actually last! Dude, it’ll be like 105°F today, and humid!

Which is why I’m safely tucked away inside this dungeon that’s my office building, sipping on my Nesquik and not wishing I was out there up and about, for once. This type of weather mandates that I even listen to RnB instead of Hip Hop, if only to stay cooler. Big Boi of Outkast might’ve nailed it in ‘So Fresh, So Clean’ when he said he was, and I quote, Cooler than Freddie Jackson sipping a milkshake in a snowstorm, but I’d like to think I’m not too shabby either sipping on my milkshake while listening to the late great Luther Vandross.

Like everyone else on the planet, I knew of Vandross, but it’s only recently that I discovered him and I’ll tell you what, dude is a beast. He’s probably solely responsible for the population explosion of the 80s and 90s, coz it makes you wanna get you some when he croons, 4 real.

I remember it like it was only yesterday: I was deep into my homework a couple of months back and had some RnB online station playing in the background, when Vandross’ ‘A House Is Not A Home’ came on and yo, that right there did it. By the time he was done the hairs on the nape of my neck were bristling & I had goose-bumps; that’s how much I felt it, I kid you not. Needless to say, the next couple of weeks had me hunting all over the place for Vandross’ material and thanks to my girl Shaw, I’ve now got a sizeable collection of his joints.

So, while everyone else is raving about the heat I’m chillin’ baby, literally. Rest in peace Luther, rest in peace.

Well I'm in and out of the heat and I'm afraid I'm enjoying it. reminds me of my coast days. And some of the chasing of the skirts isn't going down in cool buildings.

There are days I'm afraid to approach Luther.

Seeing how sweet things melt in intense heat, there were virtually no honeyz strutting about before 6:30pm here, 4 real!

Afraid to approach Luther? As in afraid of what he might make you do? lol!

Wsup. You're welcome.

What, I'm in the DC area too and yes, it's v-i-c-i-o-u-s! And as typically freezing as labs are, I'm sure you're all nice and cool. Au contraire, the air blowing in here feels tepid.

I thought you were going to say...'....the next couple of weeks had you hunting...' for some...
I love the heat but not as high as you're getting over there. Hapa things are good. Its nice and warm!

lol! The proper sequence of events, so to speak, is that I had to get the music first, let it 'empower' me, then go out there and try to get me some!

Allow me to blog on your blog.
The 'you' has been replaced with 'some' in LV's Think about you.
So close to paradise, but closer than I should be
It’s like I’m along for the ride, it happened unexpectedly
Promised myself that I wouldn’t ever love again
But you make me feel something, my mind’s always on some
I was standing in the rain (I thought about some)
I was riding on the train (I thought about some)
Feeling high like I seem to do
Every time I think about some
Saw two lovers start to kiss (I thought about some)
Had to hold back the tears (I thought about some)
Girls only exist for some
All because I think about some

>d®, please get some!

>CK: Now why you wanna go and do that love, huh? Butchering my mans-n-em's song? For the record, you've got a smack-down coming!
Well, if u must know, getting some isn't errrthang. Most of us can get any ol' booty. But like Fabolous says in 'Make Me Better,' Why have the cake if ain't got the sweet frosting?

>Xuxa: You got jokes - worked myself into a lather, huh?
Nah, my 2... ummm... heads, if u will, have come to some sort of grudging compromise: If the larger won't think freaky thoughts, the smaller will try and stifle his need for... attention. lol!

>Boyflani: Welcome back.
Graphics design is OK, so-so for me tho. Working on doing something else tho; been doing this for a long minute, maybe too long.
