People are really f*cked up. I read about this earlier today, and it's as close as I've ever come to tearing up. And to think it happened near my hood.
Even worse, if this had happened in white suburbia I'm sure it would've been prevented. Makes one's blood boil.

I worked with folks in health in the DC/MD/VA area, who lamented that there were fewer and fewer ops for kids in social services, whether staff or otherwise. If you do a search, you will find many such cases. It seems that there are too few caseworkers, too many kids falling through the cracks and too little political willpower to make kids safe. I can hardly believe this. RIP Lexie - You deserved so much in life which you barely got.
As much as Lexie went through, it breaks my heart to think that there are lots more cases like this one. Why would anyone do that to a defenseless kid, to anyone? I hope her adoptive mother rots in hell.
